It’s one of the most deceptively simple questions in the American West: Where does the Colorado River actually end? Moving through the lower Colorado River basin -- from the massive engineering legacy of Hoover Dam to the shrinking shoreline of the Salton Sea and the intensely productive farms of the Imperial Valley -- this talk examines how cities, agriculture, and infrastructure have transformed the river long before it attempts to reach the sea. Through reporting and storytelling from both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border, journalist Luke Runyon traces the river’s final miles and ask what its unclear endpoint reveals about water scarcity in the southwest.
