105 - Updates in Chronic Pain Management
Chronic pain has become a silent epidemic. It affects roughly a third of people over 60 and increases with age. Chronic pain can become overwhelming, all-encompassing, and unbearable, leading to a limited lifestyle and even addiction. For many people, the only options have been Tylenol, NSAIDS, steroids, and opioids. Today, scientists and medical specialists have a better understanding of the mechanisms of chronic pain which have led to new and more effective treatments. This course will review how chronic pain develops, the role of standard treatments, and discuss new and emerging treatments.   (Class limit:  60)
